Believe it or not, you CAN make money on the Internet. People are proving it every day. You can be one of those people, too. There are a number of things that you simply MUST do to earn money from the Internet.

Learn basic HTML. At least the basics. This will keep your costs down. Even if you have someone build the site for you, you can maintain and update it yourself.

Do your own product reviews, recommendations, and articles. Ensure it is a topic you are passionate about, and it will show through your writing. No one knows your products and services better than you do.

Choose a keyword-rich and easy to remember domain name. Keep it simple. If it is easy to remember, then your visitors will remember what it is when they see it on a billboard or in a newspaper. This will increase traffic to your site, too.

Get weblog software, like WordPress. It gives your site all the structure it needs and makes it easier to update your website.

Make your website pretty. WordPress has templates that can help make your site a beautiful thing. Choose the template and work it so that it suits your needs, style, and theme of your site.

Create categories. This is so that you can organize your blog entries to make it easier for your visitors to read and understand. You are writing about your thoughts, feelings, and daily-doings. They will still be in a chronological order of some sort, but if one is about your kids and the next one is how excited you are to finally get your website up, then categories will make it easier for your readers to see what you are discussing at that time.

Promote your site. There are several free directories and other sites that you can advertise your website on. Advertise your website at your target market's interests. If you sell jewelry, advertise on places that are for those who are in direct sales (such as DirectSalesRadioShow.com) and sites dedicated to stay at home parents.

Create a newsletter to draw repeat customers. Whether your newsletter is one page or several pages, you can use this resource to tell your customers that there is something new on the site, that you are having a special, or if you are now offering new services.

Finally, set reasonable income expectations. You CAN earn money on the Internet, but it will not happen over night. Remember, if you were working for someone else, you would be paid a wage or a salary – you do not make your income in one fell swoop. You would get paid weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Have faith in yourself that you can earn money on the Internet. It is possible.
